Here's What's Happening at the Hall!
This past year, we got to know the building and the community of McCloud. The McCloud Chamber of Commerce's Mushroom Fest fundraising dinner was our first event in 2023! So many tours were given, and the more we cleaned and cleared, the more folks came by to check out what was going on at the Dance Hall with the doors open. Tours were fun! We toured downstairs and upstairs, through the Masonic Temple, and even to the attic or under the building if people were interested! Such joy sharing and learning from folks spanning generations in McCloud, along with those who have admired the building for years but had never been inside!
Facility Improvements
As we reflect on the past year, our commitment to preserving and enhancing the Dance Hall has resulted in remarkable facility improvements.
Here's a recap of the transformative journey we embarked upon in 2023:
Autumn 2022 ~ Unveiling the Canvas:
The journey began with a collective effort to breathe new life into the Dance Hall. Cleaning and clearing became a labor of love, with numerous dump runs to clear the space. One significant moment was bidding farewell to the tree that had woven itself through the porch, symbolizing the clearing of the path for the Dance Hall's next chapter.
Winter 2022/2023 ~ Nurturing the Foundations:
As winter set in, our focus shifted to the core of the building. The management of leaks became a priority, ensuring that the Dance Hall remained a sturdy and secure space. It was a season of fortifying the foundations, both literal and metaphorical, laying the groundwork for the improvements to come.
Spring 2023 ~ Crafting Elegance Underfoot:
As the dance floor took center stage, spring brought a symphony of activities. The dance floor underwent meticulous sanding, restoring it to its former glory. Simultaneously, a comprehensive cleaning swept through every nook and cranny, while plumbing adjustments added a touch of modern functionality. Roof leaks became a thing of the past as repairs and improvements were made. Foundation work became a focal point, with compromised footings, piers, and beams fortified to ensure the Dance Hall's structural integrity.
Summer 2023 ~ A Finale of Flourish:
The grand finale of our endeavors unfolded in the summer. A testament to the dedication and hard work poured into every step of the renovation process; the dance floor, once a canvas of potential, was now a masterpiece. The Dance Hall is now not only a historical legacy, but a venue ready to host joyous moments for generations to come.
As we step into the future, we carry the lessons and memories of this transformative year. The Dance Hall stands stronger, more beautiful, and ready to embrace the vibrant energy of our community.

2023 Event Review:
Burning Tango in June was a success; seeing the floor full of dancers was glorious! We hosted more private retreats and Square Dancing throughout the season. Additionally, we had a BBQ meet-and-greet with local musicians, celebrated the life of Stretch with Nina, family, and neighbors, and even organized a few last-minute dance parties!
December 2023, we were part of McCloud Winter Fest, decking the Hall with boughs of juniper, cedar and pine then welcoming the children and their families with movement, games, dancing and homemade soup. The second Saturday of Winter Fest was the historic building tour and wow were we busy! SO many folks came through with stories and we had a blast!
As we step into the future, we carry the lessons and memories of this transformative year with us. The Dance Hall stands stronger, more beautiful, and ready to embrace the vibrant energy of our community.
